Aside from the numerous road closures, sometimes with alternative routes closed also, 30mph limits and endless traffic lights I feel I must jump on the band wagon and mention pot-holes! I am now of the opinion that it may be cheaper to have an increase in council or road tax to get them fixed. Admittedly my car has seen better days but I recently had a puncture, followed by a puncture of my spare, in use whilst awaiting repair of cracks in the original wheel – expense x 3, all caused by pot-holes that aren’t apparent until you have a few vertebrae dislodged by what feels like a fair ground ride drop – without the fun! Road rage rant over……
Saxmundham’s Christmas Fayre was a huge success with many families joining the festive activities in the town centre. Well done to all the volunteers, performers, vendors and staff who made it such a lovely community event. Saxmundham Town Council is clearly doing a great job as they are finalists in the National Association of Local Councils’ Star Council Awards for 2025-2026 in the Council of the Year category.
Volunteers have been busy looking after our river, the Fromus, monitoring it as part of the 4 Rivers Recovery Project and others have been clearing it of Himalayan Balsam, cue the Balsam Bashers! When I walk over the bridge it is disappointing to see people have seen fit to throw in the odd shopping trolley or traffic cone, but I was startled by a splash a few weeks ago and was greeted with the sight of a little muntjac enjoying a drink. It would be lovely to see more wildlife thriving in and around the Fromus so the efforts of local volunteers are very welcome! Well done all.
