November Edition
Woodbridge will kick off the festive season at the end of November with a Festival of Art and Music and the welcome return of Geno Washington, the founding father of Brit Soul Music. Geno has a connection with the town as he served at the US Air base in Woodbridge in the ‘60s and he has been invited to switch on the town lights alongside the Mayor and Jenny Riddell-Carpenter MP. Lots of entertainment, street food and much more will follow so be sure to attend this lovely community event. Enjoy!
It feels very autumnal now but hopefully the weather will be kind to the participants in the annual Ruff Stuff charity cycle ride which takes place on 26th October through Rendlesham Forest. It is one of Woodbridge Rotary’s biggest events of the year and will this year raise funds Bike Active, Air Ambulance and other Rotary charities. If you would like to sponsor this event or maybe donate a raffle prize do get in touch (details on page 14).
Summer is drawing to a close but there are still events to enjoy in Woodbridge and the surrounding area. A free Food Festival takes place on 20th September at the Community Hall and Bentwaters Cold War Museum are holding another, ever-popular, ‘Special Ops Day’ – a step back in time to the Cold War! Also, as part of Heritage Open Days (HODS) there will be a Riverside Walk – this year’s theme is ‘Architecture’. Details of more events within these pages, something for everyone I’m sure. Our cover photo, of a meadow brown butterfly was taken in Wheatacre, Norfolk by the very talented Caroline Tillett.
