Saxmundham’s Christmas Fayre was a huge success with many families joining the festive activities in the town centre. Well done to all the volunteers, performers, vendors and staff who made it such a lovely community event. Saxmundham Town Council is clearly doing a great job as they are finalists in the National Association of Local Councils’ Star Council Awards for 2025-2026 in the Council of the Year category.
Volunteers have been busy looking after our river, the Fromus, monitoring it as part of the 4 Rivers Recovery Project and others have been clearing it of Himalayan Balsam, cue the Balsam Bashers! When I walk over the bridge it is disappointing to see people have seen fit to throw in the odd shopping trolley or traffic cone, but I was startled by a splash a few weeks ago and was greeted with the sight of a little muntjac enjoying a drink. It would be lovely to see more wildlife thriving in and around the Fromus so the efforts of local volunteers are very welcome! Well done all.
A huge ‘Well Done’ to Saxmundham Town Council for being awarded joint ‘Council of the Year’ in recognition of them going above and beyond expectations. With Sealink and Sizewell C they have an awful lot to deal with and are clearly doing a great job for our town. Congratulations to all concerned.
